As hoped, a visit to Mike and Steve at Nunney Road Garage this afternoon revealed further work on Frome’s first petrol to electric car conversion.
The gearbox is back in and secured in place with the help of a trusty (temporary) hammer. A cross member is next to go in – to hold the gear box firmly in place. This should be welded in tomorrow.
Here’s one of the six leisure gel batteries which will power the vehicle. These will be mounted in the engine bay, in a specially-built tray. An additional battery, in the boot, will power the lights etc.

6 liquid gel batteries will power the vehicle. These are the same as leisure batteries used on campervans and caravans; they release energy at a much slower rate than the normal car battery
More views from below. A section of axle will be used from our spares Fiesta, to connect up the front wheel axle.
That’s all folks, next update should be tomorrow.
